Bottle gentian grows in moist to wet soil (not in standing water) in prairies, wet meadows, marshes, shrub swamps, and along lakeshores or streambanks. It is a beautiful, late-season flower. Never transplant wild plants. Seedlings and adult plants have a mycorrhizal (fungus-root) association which requires special care.
